In a world where family violence still casts a long shadow over too many Australian households, the Stronger Families Foundation is lighting the path forward. Based in the Binjareb and Whadjuk regions of Western Australia, this grassroots organisation is helping dads step up, take responsibility, and become the kind of fathers and partners their families need. 💙
At the heart of their work is a simple but powerful belief: when fathers are supported to become more caring, connected, and accountable, families become safer and stronger.
Changing the Narrative: From Harm to Healing
Stronger Families offers a range of evidence-based programs designed to break the cycle of violence and promote safe, respectful relationships. Programs like:
Caring Dads – helping fathers understand the impact of their behaviour and encouraging healthier parenting choices.
Steps Towards Caring – guiding men to reflect deeply on their actions and make meaningful change.
Strengthening Families – offering trauma-informed support to mothers and children affected by family violence.
These programs are more than just courses – they’re lifelines for families trying to heal and rebuild.
In 2024 alone, over 460 individuals – men, women, and children – benefited from Stronger Families’ work. That’s 460 lives made safer, stronger, and more connected.
Healing Happens Together
What makes Stronger Families truly stand out is their holistic approach. They understand that to truly prevent family violence, we need to support every member of the family – not just the person causing harm. While fathers are held accountable and given tools to change, mothers and children are provided with trauma therapy, emotional support, and practical care.
This whole-of-family model recognises that healing doesn’t happen in isolation – it happens together.
Community Backing and Political Recognition
The Foundation’s impact hasn’t gone unnoticed. In a heartfelt moment in WA State Parliament, Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday mentioned Stronger Families, praising their frontline work and commitment to breaking intergenerational cycles of harm.
It’s a powerful recognition for a grassroots organisation that is doing the hard work of building stronger communities from the inside out. 👏
