What Is Culturally Appropriate Aged Care?

Culturally appropriate aged care means providing care that respects and responds to an older person’s culture, language, beliefs, traditions, food preferences, family relationships and individual identity.

CALD stands for culturally and linguistically diverse. In aged care, this can include older people from different cultural backgrounds, particularly people who speak languages other than English or have cultural needs that should be considered when planning and delivering their care.
