Looking for a Facebook Alternative? Digital Marketing Options for Perth Businesses

For years, Facebook has been one of the go-to platforms for small businesses wanting to promote their products and services online.

It has been a relatively easy way to build an audience, share updates, run promotions and stay connected with customers.

But what happens if Facebook isn't delivering the results it once did?

Or perhaps your customers simply aren't spending much time there anymore?

For small businesses in Perth, the good news is that Facebook isn't your only option. In fact, building a marketing strategy that doesn't depend entirely on one social media platform can be a much smarter long-term approach.

Here are some Facebook alternatives worth considering.

1. Google: Be Found When Customers Are Searching

One of the biggest advantages of Google is that people are often searching because they already have a need.

Someone searching for “electrician Perth”, “best café in Fremantle” or “digital marketing agency Perth” isn't simply scrolling through their feed. They're actively looking for something.

That makes Google Search and local SEO extremely valuable for small businesses.

A well-optimised website, Google Business Profile and locally focused content can help your business appear when potential customers are searching for the products or services you offer.

Instead of constantly trying to interrupt someone's social media feed, you're putting your business in front of people who are already looking.

2. Instagram: A More Visual Way to Build Your Brand

If your business relies on images, video or personality, Instagram can be a strong alternative to Facebook.

It's particularly useful for businesses such as:

  • Restaurants and cafés

  • Retailers

  • Beauty businesses

  • Trades and home services

  • Fitness businesses

  • Tourism and hospitality

  • Creative businesses

Instagram Reels and Stories can also give smaller businesses an opportunity to showcase what they do without needing a huge advertising budget.

The key is not simply posting promotional content.

Show the people behind the business. Share your work. Answer common customer questions. Give potential customers a reason to follow you.

3. TikTok: Don't Write It Off as Just a Young Person's Platform

TikTok has become a significant platform for businesses that can create short, engaging videos.

You don't necessarily need expensive equipment or professionally produced videos.

A quick demonstration, before-and-after, behind-the-scenes clip or answer to a common customer question can sometimes perform better than a highly polished advertisement.

For Perth businesses, there is also an opportunity to create content with a local angle.

Talk about your area. Show your workplace. Highlight local customers, projects or events.

People don't just buy from businesses — they buy from businesses they recognise and trust.

4. LinkedIn: An Alternative for B2B Businesses

If you're a business selling to other businesses, LinkedIn may be a better fit than Facebook.

Consultants, professional services firms, accountants, lawyers, technology companies, agencies and many other B2B businesses can use LinkedIn to build credibility and relationships.

Rather than simply advertising your services, share your knowledge.

Talk about industry changes. Answer common questions. Share lessons from your experience.

Over time, this can help position your business as an expert in its field.

5. Email Marketing: Build an Audience You Own

One of the biggest problems with relying entirely on social media is that you don't own the platform or your followers.

An algorithm can change.

Organic reach can decline.

A platform can change

Dear Facebook, It's Time We Had a Chat…

Dear Facebook,

It's not you.

Okay… maybe it is a little bit you.

We remember the good times. You helped small businesses find customers, build communities, share updates and get their name out there.

But lately, things have changed.

Organic reach feels harder. Algorithms keep changing. And sometimes it feels like we're putting more effort into creating content than actually reaching the people we want to reach.

So we've been thinking…

Maybe it's time we saw other platforms.

Google.Instagram.LinkedIn.TikTok.Email marketing.SEO.And, dare we say it… our own website.

Don't get us wrong — we're not saying goodbye forever.

We're just saying we don't want to put all our marketing eggs in one basket anymore.

Our relationship needs some space.

And honestly, Facebook, we think it's time small businesses started dating around. 😉

So this isn't goodbye.

It's more of a…

“Let's see other marketing channels.”

No hard feelings.

Well… maybe a few.

Love,

A small Perth business trying to get noticed online. 💙

Dear Facebook,

It’s time we started seeing other platforms.

It’s not that we don’t appreciate everything you’ve done for us.

We’ve had some great times. You helped businesses build audiences, connect with customers and get their names out there.

But things have changed.

So, we think it’s time to explore other options.

Google.Instagram.LinkedIn.TikTok.SEO.Email marketing. And maybe even our own websites.

Don’t worry, Facebook. We’re not breaking up completely.

We just don’t want to put all our marketing eggs in one basket anymore.

It’s time to see what else is out there. 😉

break up
