WHY IT'S TIME TO BREAK UP WITH CANVA

Before you come at me with your pitchforks or accuse me of being biased, yes, I AM a brand designer but hear me out!

I don't hate Canva, I think it's a great tool to use at the bootstrap stage of your business.

If you haven't heard of Canva, Canva is an online platform that allows you to create visual content.

The problem I've got is that you're missing out on key learnings. If you hire a brand designer to create a brand, you will also develop your business strategy, saving you time and money in the long run.

Jamaliya Corbine featured in Forbes on The Importance Of Brand In The Digital Space,
Mentions that ‘for many companies, their brand is at the core of everything they do. It informs company culture, product lines and marketing decisions; however, it can be diluted or even forgotten in the digital marketing space’

Brand creation involves a SWOT analysis, business planning, customer profiling, colour analysis and brand archetypes. This process will reward you in other areas, for example, Google ads. Knowing your competitors and target customers means creating content that actually engages and connects with the audience, saving money on ad spend and increasing conversion.

With Canva, business owners use it without considering their brand image. They use ready-made templates used by thousands, they create graphics without following a design process and then wonder why they are not getting much engagement.

Your brand is the single most important investment you can make in your business.
- Steve Forbes

Branding builds your reputation and connects you to your customers. It is more than a logo. It establishes the tone and aesthetic and is one of the essential elements of a company's digital success.
