The social media has been widely criticized as a distraction or a place of shallow interactions. Nevertheless, it was all meant to bring people together, and that is a task that is not yet dead. In the case of community organisations such as The Spiers Centre, the social media continues to be among the most effective tools in relationship building, creating awareness, and assisting the neediest people.
In our daily work, we see how digital tools help us build real connections with people. Often, a single Facebook post about financial guidance or an Instagram story with practical budgeting tips can open the door for someone who’s struggling. These aren’t just online posts—they’re often the first step toward real change in someone’s life.
What makes social media so powerful is the conversation it sparks. Unlike traditional ads that just talk at you, social platforms let us listen, reply, and adapt. This back-and-forth helps us tailor our services to what people actually need. At The Spiers Centre, that means we hear directly from those we serve and adjust our support to make a deeper difference.
Research shows that real impact doesn’t come from being seen—it comes from people joining in. When someone likes, shares, or comments, they’re not just spreading our message—they’re building a community of trust. That’s how a simple post can grow into a wave of support and encouragement.
It’s important to remember: social media isn’t about the platforms—it’s about the people using them. While data and algorithms have their place, our real strength is telling honest stories. By sharing experiences of hope and resilience, we remind everyone that behind every service, there’s a person—and behind every click, a chance to connect. We are determined to use the social media as a positive force at The Spiers Centre. It is not merely to be visible, but to remain social. All posts will be developed to teach, involve, and empower, which are the values that are applied in our daily work.
