Studying in Australia is more than lectures and assignments—it is also about personal growth. For many international students, it means stepping out of your comfort zone, adapting to a new culture, learning a new language, and living far from your roots—in my case, Peru. This journey is not only academic, but also deeply personal. I have learned that balance is more than achieving goals; it is about quality of life and feeling fulfilled with what you are doing.

At Edith Cowan University in Perth, this journey begins with learning how to organise your time between study, work, and personal life. During the week, I work from Monday to Wednesday in logistics, gaining practical experience, while Thursday and Friday are dedicated to focusing on my classes at ECU City Campus. This balance allows me to connect real-world experience with academic learning and develop discipline and time management skills.
One of the key tools I have developed to maintain balance is a personal brainstorming method. I list my tasks and priorities, then organise them by allocating time to study, work, and personal life. This helps me understand how I use my time and focus on what truly matters. It has also shown me the importance of choosing the right environment for both working and studying. These practices support my learning in the Master of Business Analytics and prepare me for future challenges in Business Analytics and Marketing.

The environment where you study and work also plays a key role. At ECU, I enjoy different comfortable spaces to study or rest. This is especially important for me due to back issues, as the facilities are designed for both comfort and quality. My favourite place is the library, where I can focus on assignments or prepare for class. It offers good lighting, charging points, free water, and access to kitchen areas. The campus location is also convenient, allowing me to travel home easily by bus.
If you are looking for more than just a degree, ECU offers a journey that combines education, real experience, and personal growth. This journey is a challenging but rewarding transition that prepares you for future professional roles.
