Homelessness in Western Australia: A silent crisis
Did you know over 9,700 people in Western Australia experience homelessness every night? The signs of homelessness are not always visible because many people are not on the streets, in parks or doorways at night. They’re in cars, boarding houses or moving from couch to couch. This invisibility makes the problem very hard to detect and even harder to prevent.
If the truth be told, homelessness does not happen overnight. It starts with missed payments and skipped meals. It starts with silence. At the heart of this growing crisis lies one question. How do we stop the cycle before it begins?
The simple answer is awareness and reaching out early.
That is why The Digital Marketing Crew is stepping up and using their diverse digital marketing skills to shine a light on this silent crisis.
Homelessness prevention is more powerful than rescue
After attending Homelessness Week 2025 ,we learnt that homelessness affects education, health and stability. Its effects can pass from one generation to the next. Our silence has ripple effects that go beyond the current generation.
To help change the narrative, we have partnered with The Spiers Centre in a campaign titled "It starts with hello.” This campaign is about reaching people before a crisis hits, starting a conversation before the eviction notice arrives or the second mortgage payment is missed.
For The Spiers Centre, intervention does not need to start with big gestures. It can start with a hello. That small word can help someone turn the page.
Early Support. Lasting Stability. Dignified Solutions.
The Spiers Centre is situated in Perth’s northern suburbs. Their services aim to help people before a crisis happens. Key services include:
Their key services include:
Emergency relief for those experiencing urgent financial hardship.
Financial counselling to help people manage debt and build long-term stability.
Family support programs to ease pressure and provide guidance during tough times.
These services are designed to reduce stress and pressure before it becomes too much to handle. They offer stability and hope that brighter days are ahead.
Driving Social Change Through Digital Marketing
Our role as The Digital Marketing Crew is to be a megaphone for awareness and hope. We are amplifying this campaign so that Perth knows a simple hello can change someone’s life. Here is how we are putting that into action:
Creating posts, reels, and videos that highlight the hidden signs of homelessness and encourage early support.
Writing articles that explain early intervention and connect readers to The Spiers Centre’s services.
Keeping the community engaged with updates and opportunities to get involved.
Collaborating with local voices so they can spread the message even further
This partnership shows how digital marketing can be a tool for real social change.
Together we can change the narrative
The Spiers Centre has created the campaign, and we’re helping amplify it. But real change depends on all of us. Together we can rewrite the narrative.
Here is how you can make a difference today
