Behind the feed: A Day in my Life at ECU!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hoping that my experience and views can help you during your journey at ECU City Campus !

They say you are a product of your environment. For the longest time, I thought that meant finding a quiet corner at home and just "grinding it out” till you reach growth and success. However, since moving my study routine to the new ECU City Campus, I’ve realised that a professional environment is the ultimate productivity hack for any student looking to level up.

Reaching a "Corporate HQ" Mindset

There is a massive psychological shift that happens when you walk toward a building that feels more like a global tech headquarters than a traditional university. Whenever I walk into ECU City Campus with a coffee in hand, I don’t feel like a student just checking off boxes, I feel more like a professional. You naturally start to mirror the energy of the city. It's a mindset shift I didn't see coming...

Morning - Starting slow but still feeling grounded

I reach uni around 10am and usually walk in with a coffee in hand and somehow, that moment already makes me feel like I’m stepping into something bigger than just a regular study day. My first class starts at 01:30 pm, so I don’t really need to rush. I take my time, find my usual spot in the library, open my laptop and ease into things. The space is modern, bright and calm, honestly the kind of place where focusing doesn’t feel forced. I genuinely feel like I’m building something for my future.

Evening - Where it all comes together

My classes run until 8:30 pm and by then, I feel like the day has built up to something meaningful. What I appreciate most is how practical everything feels. That matters to me, especially as an international student. I want what I learn to mean something beyond the classroom. When I walk out at night, I sometimes pause for a second and remind myself why I chose this path. I think about my roots, my island Mauritius with the beach, the quiet, the familiarity. I don’t miss it in a sad way but I’m truly grateful for it. It gave me my foundation but I am also ready for this new chapter as an international student.

The Bottom Line

The student life and the environment of the ECU City Campus made me realise that I don’t have to choose between the two versions of myself...I can carry both!

“I didn’t leave my roots behind - I learned how to grow from them at ECU, right where I am.”
