Ageing with Connection: Because Everyone Deserves to Belong
Have you ever thought about how important it is to feel understood, connected, and valued as we grow older?
For many seniors from culturally diverse backgrounds, connection to their roots, language, and community is an important part of wellbeing. Moving through later life can sometimes bring loneliness or isolation, particularly when people face language barriers or have limited access to services that understand their cultural needs.
This is where the Association of Culturally Appropriate Services (AfCAS) plays a significant role.
AfCAS supports older people across Perth’s multicultural communities by offering services that aligns with their culture and needs. Its work helps seniors maintain meaningful bonds and feel respected, included and supported within the community.
But AfCAS can’t do this alone- they need people like us.
There are many ways to make a difference. Community donations, government grants and corporate sponsorships can assist AfCAS continue and expand its services. Yet, support is not just about money- your time is just as valuable.
AfCAS is seeking volunteers who are willing to contribute their time, skills and compassion. Whether you can volunteer regularly or occasionally, your involvement could help create meaningful connections with multicultural seniors.
Imagine the difference a friendly conversation, a helping hand or simply spending time with someone could make. Small acts of kindness can ease loneliness and remind them that they matter deeply in our community.
