Thinking About Studying in Australia? Here’s What It Actually Feels Like

The idea of studying abroad often looks exciting but what is the actual reality of doing it on a daily basis?

Studying master's in international hospitality management in Perth is a mix of discipline, routine, growth, and moments that make everything worthwhile. It’s not just about lectures and assignments it’s about building a lifestyle that shapes you to be a better version of yourself.

Starting the Day in Perth CBD

My mornings begin with a bus and train ride into Perth CBD. Simple, but there is something motivating about watching the view of the city on the way to campus. It gives me time to mentally prepare for the day ahead.

Once I arrive, my first stop is always a campus café. A good coffee and a quick breakfast have become part of my routine. A small habit that helps me ease into the day and stay focused, can’t study on an empty stomach.

 Learning Beyond the Classroom

As a master's student in International Hospitality Management, my university days (Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays) are filled with exciting lectures. We explore real-world case studies, industry challenges, and practical insights that prepare us for careers in hospitality.

After lectures, I like to spend time in the library, to review notes, work on assignments, and sometimes collaborate with classmates and get to know them more. It’s in these quiet moments that everything starts to connect, and I can see how what I’m learning applies to the real world.

Evenings in the City

After a busy and productive day, I like to head out into Perth CBD with my partner. We both enjoy trying different restaurants, exploring new cuisines, and just taking a break from the academic routine.

Moments like these are important, as they remind me to slow down and enjoy the experience, not just focus on the end goal. Perth’s food scene offers so much variety, and every outing feels like a small adventure.

Winding Down

When I get home, I take time to unwind. One of my favourite ways to relax is by playing video games with my friends. It’s a simple way to disconnect, have fun, and recharge after a long day.

Balancing study, personal time, and social connections is key to keeping a healthy lifestyle while studying abroad.

 More Than Just a Degree

What I’ve learned from this journey is that studying in Australia is about much more than earning a qualification. It’s about the daily experiences the early commutes, the café stops, the late night gaming sessions, and the time spent with people who matter.

These moments shape your independence, build your confidence, and create memories that stay with you long after graduation. It can be challenging at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.
