ECU City Campus Student Life in Perth

What does student life at Edith Cowan University (ECU) City Campus really look like?

As a Master of International Hospitality Management student, I see it as more than going to class and finishing assignments. The campus is in the heart of Perth CBD, so study and city life feel like they are part of the same routine.

I begin my day with a free coffee from the ECU Student Guild, then go to class. It is a small start, but it really helps, especially when I have lectures or assignments to do. Then I usually go to the library or somewhere quiet to study, see what needs to be done and slowly get into study mode.

Where Creativity Happens

There is a great creative atmosphere at ECU City Campus. Because WAAPA is part of ECU City Campus, the campus feels close to music, performance, and creative arts. Sometimes I see or hear students practicing, or I see creative events happening on campus or in nearby places like Yagan Square. It makes the campus feel more alive. I am not a performing arts person, but as a hospitality student I love that kind of vibe. It makes uni life seem less boring and more connected to culture and city life.

Life Beyond Class

The location is also one of the best parts of studying here. ECU City Campus is only a short walk from Perth train stations, and the bus services stop below the campus building. That way, I do not need to spend too much time on transport.

After class, I can also walk to Northbridge for food. There are Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese restaurants nearby. This is really nice for international students. After a long study day, finding food that tastes like home can feel really comforting.

If I don’t have many assignments on the weekend, I go to Kings Park for the city view or go to the beach to watch the sunset. These places help me feel refreshed after studying. What I like about Perth is that I can enjoy city life and nature at the same time. So, student life does not always feel too stressful.

That is why I enjoy studying at ECU City Campus. It is not only about classes. It also gives me an easy routine, good food nearby and places to relax when study gets busy.
