Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Approaches to Drive Website Traffic

Search engine optimization (SEO) is a set of strategic approaches performed by web sites to be better indexed and enhance its appearances on internet search engines (Gandour & Regolini, 2011). The best way to make one’s business easily visible online is through effective use of SEO. However, its effectiveness depends on its rank assigned by a search engine. A higher index is an indication of more organic traffic that has greater potential to increase return on investment of SEO strategies. The following are some of the strategic approaches to improve search traffic of your web site.

1. Relevant content

The driving force for higher ranking of the web site is by creating and publishing relevant contents for its intended readers. Relevant web site with relevant content is key to make your business standout from the crowd.

2. Metadata

Metadata is an information about data on the web page. It is a well organised data which aids in finding and understanding of the data available on a web page. The keywords and phrases used in it helps to improve ranking of your website.

3. Update content regularly

A scheduled auditing and updating web contents regularly is essential to maintain relevancy of the contents in your web site. Auditing will help to detect which pages are having higher SEO traffic flow or bounce rate and accordingly make changes.

4. Creating a formal link

Creating a link like “Click here” does not help in SEO since it is not related to the content but creating a separate link using keywords such as “Korean dishes” contains keywords to aid searching. Thus, enhances ranking of the web site.

5. Use Alt attribute

Alt attribute is an image tags that serves as alternative to text searches on search engine. Using product photos in alt tags is critical for enhancement of website ranking since it aids in quick identification of the page. Visual and videos must be described using alt tags.
